Transcendent Classes Explained: Rebirth, Requirements and Rewards
Reaching level 99 in Ragnarok Online is not the end of a character — for the classic classes it is the halfway point. The transcendent system, introduced with the Juno episode, lets a maxed second-class character return to level 1 and climb again, emerging as a stronger reborn version with new skills and a raised level cap. It is the game's most demanding journey, and its most rewarding.
What transcending actually means
A Lord Knight is not just a stronger Knight. Transcendent classes gain exclusive skills — the High Wizard's magic amplification, the Sniper's boosted falcon damage, the High Priest's additional support toolkit — along with 25 percent more base HP and SP and a stat pool raised from 99 to 120 per attribute. In party content and War of Emperium, transcendent characters are the standard, not the exception.
The visual change matters too: reborn characters wear a distinct aura and new sprite details, a badge the whole server recognizes on sight.
Requirements and the rebirth process
The path is strict. Your character must be a second-class job — Knight, Wizard, Hunter, Priest, Blacksmith or Assassin and their expanded counterparts — at base level 99 and job level 50 or higher. With those met and a fee of 1,285,000 zeny set aside, the Valkyrie in Juno oversees the rebirth: your character returns to Novice, keeps its skills once jobs are relearned, and climbs to the transcendent second class through the same job-change quests, now with the higher stat cap.

| Second class | Transcendent form | Signature gain |
|---|---|---|
| Knight | Lord Knight | Clashing Spiral, aura endurance skills |
| Wizard | High Wizard | Amplified magic power, Ganbantein |
| Hunter | Sniper | Falcon Assault, sharpened shooting |
| Priest | High Priest | Assumptio, expanded blessings |
| Blacksmith | Whitesmith | Refine mastery, weapon perfection |
| Assassin | Assassin Cross | Meteor Assault, advanced poisons |
Planning the second climb
Rebirth resets your level but not your equipment or your wealth, which changes the strategy completely. Veterans prepare a leveling kit in advance: a carded weapon usable at low level, a stock of consumables, and a Merchant's vending proceeds to fund the ride. With preparation, the second climb to 99 takes a fraction of the first.
Keep your skill plan written down before you rebirth. Relearning jobs in the wrong order locks points behind quests you cannot redo quickly, and the Valkyrie does not give refunds.
- Save the full rebirth fee before you reach 99, not after.
- Prepare a low-level weapon you can wield again from Novice.
- Finish job-change quests in the same order as your first climb.
Is it worth it in 2026?
On any server where transcendent classes exist, yes. The stat cap alone shifts duels and siege outcomes, and the exclusive skills define entire guild strategies. Treat the first 99 levels as training for the character you actually intend to play.
