Super Novice Guide: Ragnarok’s Hardest and Most Loved Class
Somewhere between a joke class and a legend sits the Super Novice: a character who refuses to choose a path and instead borrows a little of everyone's. It casts bolts like a Mage, heals like an Acolyte and swings like a Swordsman, all wrapped in the smallest sprite on the battlefield. It is the hardest mainstream class to level in Ragnarok Online — and one of the most loved.
How to become one
The path starts by doing nothing. Stay a Novice, train to base level forty-five without ever job changing, then seek out the Super Novice guild. From that moment your skill tree fills with a sampler of first-class abilities from all six classic paths: Fire Bolt and Frost Diver sit next to Heal, Increase AGI and Bash. No other class touches that many toolkits at once.

What the class does well
Versatility is the whole identity. A Super Novice can solo maps by switching elements on demand, support a party with heals and buffs in a pinch, and equip a surprising spread of gear. With a Soul Linker's blessing — the famous Super Novice Spirit — the class's limits loosen further and the borrowed skills hit harder. On top of that sits the class's folklore: a Super Novice that reaches the level cap without ever dying earns a permanent health bonus, a feat guilds still celebrate in chat.
- Elemental flexibility — bolts and endows cover most monster weaknesses.
- Self-sufficiency — heals and buffs reduce potion costs on long grinds.
- Party utility — a backup healer and buffer that frees the Priest to do more.
| Aspect | Super Novice | Standard second class |
|---|---|---|
| Skill pool | Wide, from six first classes | Deep, one specialized tree |
| Leveling pace | Slow and dangerous | Faster with clear role |
| Endgame role | Utility, novelty, WoE support | Defined tank, damage or support slot |
The honest warning
Everything about the class is slower. Your health pool stays thin, your damage trails a real Wizard or Knight, and maps that a second class walks through will kill a careless Super Novice in seconds. Play it if the journey is the point — if you want a character that can do a bit of everything and a story nobody else on the server has. If your goal is efficient endgame power, a transcendent second class will get you there in a fraction of the time.
